Rincon Buenos Aires

5300 Spring Mountain Rd Las VegasNV 89146
The amazing thing about Las Vegas, other than the cheap housing, nightclubs, winning money, being publicly drunk - outside, and shopping, is the food! Also, who says the best food experience has to come from at swanky hotel/casino? Venture away from the strip, and you will find amazing food eats at bargain and reasonable prices.
Las Vegas' Chinatown is home to soooo many mom & pop shops and non-chain restaurants. Not all of them being chinese food. Rincon Buenos Aires is one of em! An Argentinian steakhouse offers some real, smells great, tastes great meat cooked by Argentinian natives.
The popular section on the menu is the Parrilladas or Argentinean BBQ. Its great because you can SHARE! $34 a plate?...yea, you better share!
You can get short rib, skirt steak, filet mignon, sausage, flap meat, and sweat bread!!!
Sweat bread is something that I have been hearing a lot of lately, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it on the menu and really wanted to try to eat it. So how does it taste? Like chicken of course!! However, it had a little hint of a fried egg - texture and look is like that of cooked chicken.
They present the meats on its own grill, still cooking - so you smell all the smoky goodness right in front of you. Served with a basket of bread and chimichurri sauce which is to die for.
The empanadas are good...all of them are good - beef, chicken, spinach, and potato!
You have to drink it down with the local beer, Quilmes. It's a light lager, leaning towards the sweet side. It compliments nicely next to all the grilled meat. Washes it all down without distracting the flavor.

Don't want red meat, get Mariscos Buenos Aires - its squid, shrimp, clams, and scallops in a light garlic, tomato, and wine sauce. Seafood was good, but it was the first time that I had seafood in a tomato sauce. I guess, I was thinking it was going to be more garlic and creamy. But for the most part it was good. Would I get it again? Not unless I had an ulcer or turned vegetarian. The restaurant is definitely known for their red meat.

Not only is this place a restaurant, but it's also a deli and a super small market. Mainly offering cheese & meats that you would typically find for South American Latin cooking.

Payard Patisserie & Bistro

Dessert has been a new love of mine. I don't really have a sweet tooth and I don't crave chocolate like most girls do. But at Payard, they make chocolate look and taste so luxurious, decadent, and rich.
I wanted macaroons but they ran out and said that they were not going to have anymore until two days later. =(
So, I got a few chocolate pieces and some truffles. From Payard to the parking lot, I devoured them all.

Serendipity 3

3570 Las Vegas Blvd S Las VegasNV 89109
located on the strip outside of Caesar's Palace
ser·en·dip·i·ty [ser-uhn-dip-i-tee–noun 1. an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident. 2. 2001 movie starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. 3. New York city restaurant since 1954.

Cute, little, restaurant that is set like a pink, 50s diner straight from a little girl's dream. The frozen hot chocolate comes highly recommended. When I first heard about it, 20 questions came to mind: What's that? How does it look like? How do they get something that is hot, frozen? Is there ice cream in it? NO. Its pretty disappointing actually.
The idea is unique - but when you see/taste it, it all comes down to is crushed ice mixed with hot cocoa powder, poured into a giant cup meant to be shared for 2, and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. This is why presentation is so important. It's 10 bucks. Was it worth it? If you like it, yes because its meant for 2...if you don't, like me, I'd go back again, but I'd most likely try something different on their menu.
If you find yourself having to wait a long time to be seated and all you want is dessert, see if you can opt to sit at the bar.

Mesa Grill

Caesars Palace 3570 Las Vegas Blvd S Las VegasNV 89109
You do not have to travel to New York to taste the best. The awesome thing about Las Vegas is that most celebrity chefs are opening up locations right along the strip! One of them is Bobby Flay's, Mesa Grill. Mesa Grill's menu gourmet, Southwestern food - it's short, simple, and to the point. For brunch (Sat - Sun only from 10:30am - 3pm) there are 5 appetizers and about 12 entrees.
If you have been living in a cave for the past 10 years, Bobby Flay is a celebrity chef featured on the Food Network. His most famous show is Boy Meets Grill and he is also America's Iron Chef.
I wanted sangria to drink and I ordered a mojito before I discovered that Mesa is really known for their margaritas. They will live and die by the margarita. Being that it was brunch time, I will save this for next time.
The server informed us that everything on the menu has some heat to it. However, Flay likes to the play of sweet and spicy so that there is a perfect balance so that it is not overwhelming the taste palette. I especially like this because I am a little sensitive to spicy. Heat, I like - spicy, no likey. I do not like red pepper flakes on my pizza. I remove the wasabi if its on my nigiri sushi. That's how sensitive I am.
Spicy Chicken + Sweet Potato Hash with Poached Eggs + Green Hollandaise
For $18, you get this pretty dish. Once plate has been set in front of you, you are immediately impressed at the presentation. You really feel like you are about to eat something special. All the ingredients are mixed together so you get every flavor in every bite. The poached egg is soft and runny and blends nicely with the spicy chile hollandaise. On a heat scale of 1-10, this is a 7. The ONLY thing about this dish is that it lacks texture. You get a little crunch from the crispiness of the sweet potato hash, but that's about it.
Scrambled Eggs Chilaquiles
For $15, you get scrambled eggs and white cheddar cheese layered in between 3 fried, blue corn tortillas. Topped with roasted tomatillo sauce and creme fraiche! Each bite was tasty, crunchy, exciting, and had really mild heat - 2/10. Out of the 2 dishes, this one by far was the best. It also came with a fistful size of roasted potatoes - the best I have ever experienced! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and had the perfect amount of seasoning. Maybe they used bacon fat to crisp up the potatoes.

Welcome to my new Blog!

"Try This. Eat That." is a your neighborhood food blog inspired by the creator of another food blog called Yummy3some. Yummy3some informed you of all the food eats in downtown LA but since the contributors no longer work there, the blog got deleted. I tried exporting the old blog into the new one...posts are there but the photos didn't make it.

So here's "Try This. Eat That." A visually informative food blog site that informs you of familiar restaurants and what is on their menu. Sure you can go to the restaurant site and read the menu, but how does it taste? I'll tell you!
