Hawaiian Food Tour: Day 1

Yummy 3some invades Oahu in search of some local nom nomz. Prior to going to Hawaii, people usually try to lose weight so they can look sexy in their 2-piece. Uh-uh, not us...our prep was to google all the food spots that we were going to hit up.

First off the list after we checked in out hotel: Zippy's!

Popcorn chicken & fries

Corned beef sandwich

infamous chili fries - a MAJOR must have when you come to Zippy's

Zippy's is like McDonald's - you can find it everywhere!

On the way to North Shore, we stop by Leonard Jr's for their famous malasadas! What is a malasada? It's like a doughnut without the hole. Hand size dough balls fried till crispy brown and dusted with sugar or cinnamon sugar, they are light and fluffy inside. And when you bite into it while its still hot....OH MAN!  Nothing but doughy, sugary, goodness!!!

1/2 sugar and 1/2 cinnamon

3rd food spot is Tamura's food market in Wahiawa for some fresh ahi poke. The poke here are made fresh daily and we were overwhelmed by the different flavors.

Pickled GARLIC!!! - trust us!!!! This is amazing!!! 1lb is not enough! It doesn't even smell or taste like garlic. Feels like you are eating peanuts!

Finally, what we came here for: GIOVANNI'S SHRIMP TRUCK!!!!!

Can't go wrong with a dozen garlic shrimp w/ rice and drippings

Kim, Lorraine, Chreryl, Mike, Angela, and Marichris - April 10, 2010 - find us on the truck!

We then took our food to Shark's cove - set up a little picnic on a grassy hill, looking out into the sea green waters, popped open some local beer, and waited for the sunset. What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon. If life could be like this everyday...

4 different types of poke

has hints of passion fruit in it
perfect end to a perfect day
